The Position
We’re seeking a motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our Waste & Resource Recovery team, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Council’s transfer stations and landfill sites across the Cassowary Coast.
In this key leadership role, you’ll be responsible for managing a dedicated team across multiple locations, ensuring safe and sustainable resource recovery practices. Your responsibilities will include coordinating the disposal of wet waste outside the region, providing high-quality customer service and education at our facilities, and maintaining compliance with Council’s environmental authority requirements.

About You
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in Waste Management, Environmental Management, or Civil Construction, along with proven leadership and team management skills, including the ability to build teams and resolve conflicts effectively. They will demonstrate strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and risk assessment processes, with a focus on fostering a safety-first culture. The candidate will also have a track record of driving operational efficiencies, improving work procedures, and interpreting environmental legislation relevant to landfill operations, ensuring compliance with environmental authority conditions.
