Building Surveyor

Are you ready to help shape the built environment of our unique and diverse region?  Kyogle Council is seeking a motivated and technically capable Building Surveyor to join our Planning and Community Development team. This is a career-graded position, meaning we welcome applications from professionals at different stages of their career — from emerging talent with a trade qualification to experienced surveyors with accreditation.

As a Building Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and sustainable development across the Kyogle Local Government Area working under the direction of the Principal Building Surveyor.

As this a career-graded position (Grade 4–8), we welcome applications from candidates at varying stages of their professional journey. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Qualifications and/or accreditation appropriate to the level of appointment (e.g., swimming pool certifier, building inspector, or building surveyor).
• Sound knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, and development control regulations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
• A current Class C driver’s licence.
• A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
• Experience in a local government environment or a building-related trade background will be highly regarded.
