Swim Instructors at the Fremantle Leisure Centre are proud to help swimmers achieve new skills and celebrate these milestones. They are positive role models to the community and contribute to our great team. We are seeking qualified swim instructors to teach our pre-school and school-aged swim programs on a casual basis. In-house, paid training will be provided but you must have a minimum Austswim, Royal Life Saving or Swim Australia Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification and current CPR and Working with Children certificates. Shifts will suit parents with children at school, university students and those looking at working weekends.
Key responsibilities include:
• Planning lessons to achieve class outcomes
• Managing behavioural challenges through positive redirection
• Providing regular feedback on swimmer progress
• Teaching lessons in accordance with the City’s service standards, inclusive of appropriate and safe progressions, physical manipulation, and assessment standards
As a collaborative member of the swim program team the position is accountable for lesson planning and delivery and class supervision. The successful appointee must be an adaptable and experienced qualified swim instructor. They must also thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation. As such, applicants must be able to demonstrate through their CV and covering letter that they meet the following capabilities:
• Lesson planning,
• Thorough knowledge of swimming and water safety strokes and skill progression,
• Effective communication,
• Class management and behavioural support skills,
• Ability to adapt to varying skill levels and changing circumstances within a lesson.
