About the role:
 
As a Technical Project Officer - Infrastructure with Diamantina Shire Council, you can expect to provide technical and high-level administrative support to the Director of Infrastructure and the Works Manager. 
 
You will assist with the effective delivery of services within the Directorate for all aspects of infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of roads, civil infrastructure, Council buildings and other assets.
 
Roles and responsibilities include: 

  • Provide high-level technical advice and support to the Director of Infrastructure and the Works Manager.
  • Coordinate the administrative aspects of Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA or equivalent), Department of Transport and Main Roads works, flood damage works and other Shire roadworks
  • Establish job/cost numbers, reconcile costs, budget, prepare requisitions, produce expenditure reports and prepare claims.
  • Assist with the development of Job Management Plans for construction projects, including Shire and Main Roads.
  • Provide administrative support for Cultural Heritage clearance activities and maintain appropriate records.
  • Maintain the work program/schedule
  • Prepare quotes, set up job cost numbers and liaise with the Accounts Receivable function for invoices.
  • Help to establish, implement and maintain effective Asset Management plans
  • Assist with procurement of service providers, assets and materials including liaison with Council Stores
  • Assist in the engagement and coordination of approved contractors, quotations and preparation/coordination of tenders.
  • Provide work progress reports to the Works Manager and Director of Infrastructure
  • Ensure that Council's Quality Assurance Program is adhered to.

 
Experience and qualifications    

  • Demonstrated experience in a technical support role, preferably in a Council or related Infrastructure environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the infrastructure, technical services, road construction and/or maintenance industry.
  • Demonstrated experience using MS Office, including Outlook, Project, Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, implement time management principles and prioritise work deadlines.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to team operations and fostering productive working relationships.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision whilst exercising initiative, judgement and enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Drivers License.
  • Formal qualifications and/or experience in Engineering or Administration or a similar discipline (Desirable)
  • Some working knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design)
  • White Construction Card (Desirable)
