Temporary Full-Time – Parks and Gardens General Hand

 The Shire of Morawa is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our Parks and Gardens team in a temporary full-time capacity (6 month contract with possibility of extension). The successful applicant will assist with the maintenance of the town’s parks, reserves, gardens, ovals, verges, and streetscapes.
Reporting to the Team Leader of Parks and Gardens, this role offers a 9-day fortnight, providing a great work-life balance while contributing to the presentation and liveability of Morawa.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mowing, whipper snipping, and general upkeep of public open spaces.
• Reticulation repairs and plant care (weeding, pruning, fertilising).
• Operating horticultural equipment such as mowers, blowers, and spray units.
• Rubbish collection, weed control, and assisting with event setup when required.
• Adhering to safety standards and contributing to a positive team environment.

Essential Requirements:

• Current WA C class driver’s licence (manual preferred).
• Experience in parks and garden maintenance or similar role.
• Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team. 

Desirable:

• Chemical handling certificate (AusChem or ChemCert).
• White Card (Construction Safety Induction).
• Basic knowledge of reticulation and turf management.
• Previous experience using ride-on mowers and small plant.
• Experience operating tractors.
